Ilse Schuit is a versatile mezzo soprano with a strong passion for singing dramatic pieces and performing opera. Before beginning her music degree, Ilse completed a degree in English Language and Culture at the University of Groningen. She brings her love for language and literature into her career as a singer, where she combines these passions to enrich her performances. Storytelling and conveying emotions: that's what singing is all about for Ilse.
She has recently graduated from her BA in Classical Voice and Performance at Fontys Tilburg. After following a pre-master year at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Ilse will continue working with Hanneke de Wit in her Master of Music at the PCC. Here, she also has regular lesson with guest teacher Vitali Rozynko and acting lessons with Elsina Jansen en Wilfred van de Peppel. In Tilburg, she was guided in her studies, from 2021 to 2025, by Sinan Vural and Margriet van Reisen. From 2013 to 2021, Ilse sang with Julia Zaytseva as her teacher. She has followed masterclasses by Claron McFadden, Maarten Koningsberger, Paul McNamara, and Nico van der Meel.
